Third From the Sun

We have received your request for transfer based on your claim that we erred. We do not make errors. You requested assignment to the third planet from the sun. This is what we granted.

Correct, but not this sun.

You did not specify either the galaxy or its solar system in your petition.

Sorry. My bad. But these creatures are simply intolerable!

Is their crystalline refraction offensive in some way?

Not crystalline! They’re colloidal. Organic!

Are they not collective, then? Do they not grow by accretion? As do we?

Individualized. They grow by creating flawed copies of themselves. The means of their reproduction is too obscene to describe!

Oh, dear! Are they of good character? Have they threatened you in any way?

Their kindness is aspirational. They are motivated by competition to develop increasingly effective methods of self-destruction.

They destroy one another?

More of them regularly become extinct than survive. I beg you to reassign me before they achieve the final solution!

Your request has been approved. Do you still desire the third from the sun?

Yes. But a distant sun, please! In a galaxy far, far away!

Agreed.
